I coach and critique a variety of fiction writers, offering sharp, detailed comments and suggestions on their work. Together we work to make your manuscript as exceptional as possible.

With many contacts in the industry, I can also help you with the submission process to literary agents, if you have reached that stage, as well as answer any questions you may have on the publishing process.

Fees vary according to your needs and the length of the material, though I generally charge $1 dollar per double-spaced page (so critique of a 200 page novel will be $200), with a minimum payment of $100. Telephone conferences can also be arranged.

"Sophie's critique addressed the heart and soul of my novel and showed me how to focus on the ideas I most wanted to convey to the reader. Her feedback was specific and instructive, and her insightful comments piqued my imagination. Working with Sophie has reinvigorated my relationship with my writing."

"Sophie Powell has read and critiqued two novels for me, each very different from the other. She has a discerning sensibility that provides enthusiastic, unfettered support for the strengths of the work, penetrating insight into the trouble spots, and helpful suggestions for remedies. She has supported my work and launched me into confident rewrites on both projects."
